Satisfaction The Con

After all, what is satisfaction but an utterly unattainable
and idealistic state of mind?
Think about it.

The general wants more advanced weaponry.
The Don wants more territorial control.
The citizen wants more stability.
The economist wants more growth .
The communist wants more equality.
The politician wants more votes .
The voter wants more transparency.
The unemployed, more work.
The employee wants more salary. The CEO, more profits .
The shareholders want more dividends.
The banker wants more deposits .
The taxpayer wants more rebates. The stockbroker, more clients .
The client wants more results. The pastor wants more salvations.
The priest wants more crowds. The Buddhist, more abstinence.
The Christian wants more of God.
The old man wants more time. The young man, more freedom .
The loved want more attention.
The unloved want more acceptance .
The wife wants more commitment. The husband, more serenity.
The driver wants more horsepower. The chic want more style.
The shopper wants more clothes. The writer wants better reviews.
The controversial want more conspiracies.
The pageant contestant claims she wants more peace in the world

Only You can satisfy?
So I need more love, more power,
more of You in my life, less of me?

Can a person, supernatural or not, ever satisfy?
Money, God, cars, time, love. The list goes on and on.
And when we take a cold, hard look at the world,
perhaps we’ll realize that “enough” never is or will be.
And when we examine it closely enough,
maybe we’ll see that all things or persons promising satisfaction are liars.

Because perhaps satisfaction, in essence, is just a lie.
woah. bummer.
